Today is a very exciting day in the world of “EM has no money and has to finance a huge trip”… I got my income tax return! Although not as exciting as I had hoped. I thought since I only worked half of last year but had a lot of tax taken off that I would be getting a big return this year. Turns out they hardly take any tax off your EI (unemployment insurance payments in Canada) so that counterbalanced the giant tax deductions in the other 5 months. Dammit!! So I thought I would have a lot of extra to put towards the “get to Roatan” fund, but I don’t. I used it to pay off my credit card, and now I’m cutting that fucking thing up. Now every extra cent can go to the trip.
Job hunt is still not going well. I don’t really want to talk about that right now because it’s making me crazy.
My next plan of attack is to email the course director of the place I want to do my dive courses and see if my budget is on the right track. Maybe he can shed some light on if I can lower the cost somewhere (but hopefully not tell me anything else I’ve forgotten about!!)
