Hi Taiwan, I see you.

May 9, 2012 by Rika 4 Comments

No, I haven’t had a change of heart and decided to go to Taiwan, although it is on my “someday” list. Honduras is still #1 and I’m headed back in 10 days!

As someone new on the blogging scene (for this blog anyway) – I know seasoned bloggers already know this – but looking at the stats for your blog when it starts is actually pretty exciting.

I LOVE seeing where my readers are coming from! This week I have had lots of US, UK and Canada as usual, but also Taiwan, Indonesia, Russia and Germany. Hello international people! I see you! I also had one reader from Mexico but I know that was my ex looking at my blog while he was on holidays there. I was going to creep him out that day by messaging him and telling him I know he was looking at it but I forgot. So Mr.B, if you’re reading this, I saw you and thanks for taking time on vacation to read what I’m up to.

I am so thrilled when I sign in and see how many new views I’ve had since the day before. I remember the day I cracked 500 I was so happy and told the girl I sit beside at work all about it….I had been giving her daily counts, and I think she was getting sick of it at first but now she asks where my readers are from each day. I think 75% of the views are probably from my mom (hi mom) but it still makes me happy nonetheless that people are taking the time to read what I write. And yes, I have the “don’t track your own pageviews” box checked, don’t worry!

I would love to see this blog turn into a big beautiful travel blog like some of my travel blog heroes (make sure to check them all out on my blogroll) but for now I will be content with my 2 Taiwanese page views and my crappy Blogger layout. I am looking forward to one day looking back and laughing about getting excited for 500 pageviews. Everybody’s got to start somewhere, right?

I also get really exciting looking at where people are reading! It is so amazing, and I am now two years later with about 35000 veiws. Not a ton but crazy to think about that many people reading my stupid words! Good luck 🙂

I'm glad I'm not the only one hehe. Wow – 35,000! – hope I crack that someday! I'm getting excited now as I'm getting close to 1,000 🙂 Hard to believe that many people are reading my ramblings, although it's likely that about 50% of those numbers are my mom! (Hi mom!)

Hehe, I get excited about blog stats too! I'm reading you from UAE so you should see me pop up on your stats page!

I just found you today and I am intrigued by your plan. Looking forward to following your adventures.

I see you! Haha! So awesome.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I love your blog – you have been to so many amazing places, and I really enjoy reading about life in the UAE… it's one of those places I've always been really curious about. I was thrilled to see your "novelty snacks" posts, I love novelty snacks too – it's the first thing I get in any new country!
