Roatan Month 16 Roundup

December 12, 2013 by Rika

Full disclosure – I had NO idea what month it was for the roundup at all. I had to go back and search for the last one!

You can always see all my monthly roundups by clicking on the ’roundup’ tag below… but here they all are in order:  Month 15, Month 14, Month 13, Month 12, Month 11, Month 10, Month 9, Month 8, Month 7, Month 6, Month 5, Month 4, Month 3, Month 2 and finally little old Month 1. Sometimes when you type ‘month’ that many times it looks really weird.

This is how we do it:

1. Gratuitous diving photo:

Cause it is a diving blog too, right? Sometimes?

i’m pretty sure i haven’t used this old gem yet. doing my best corey impersonation… if you know him, you’ll understand.

2. Posts from the last month:

I’ve stayed home a lot due to the weather (my roads to town are washed out) so I had a lot more time to spend on posts this month than I have the past few months:
  • Part II of the ‘So, like, what do you EAT in Honduras’ series, island-style
  • an awesome giveaway of a personalized planner (congrats on winning Lise!)
  • my very first installment of the Roatan Review series – Roatan Boat Adventures with Captain Sam
  • yep, I can tell… 10 ways I know you’re a tourist and not an expat
  • rainy season is here with a vengeance. Here’s how I spend my time!
  • why I tell my divers and snorkelers to get the fuck off the coral (seriously)

It was a solid month of posts, thank you all for your comments and feedback and Facebook likes and convos/retweets! Loving it!

3. Coolest thing I’ve found on the internet this month:
Yes, I literally have a treasure trove of bookmarks that I add to all month just in anticipation for these roundups! This month the award is going to something I wanted to invent when I was a kid and then thankfully someone smarter did it for me.

Meet the Madeleine – a camera that captures scent instead of sights. YESYESYES. I REQUIRE THIS.

Would you want a ‘smell’ camera rather than a ‘sight’ camera? I can think of so many amazing things I would keep with this. I can also see how I would torture my little brother with it if we were still kids!

So cheers to 16 months – here’s to finally wearing sweatpants, Christmas-y girls nights, finally unlocking my iPhone, having someone else wash my dishes, crazy storms, learning the secret to island cabbage salad, drinking bush medicine and staying in with tea.

Guys, make sure to follow me on Facebook and Twitter … there’s lots of extras posted there that don’t make it onto the blog. (I also have Google+ if anyone even uses that?) Plus it makes my Madeleine wish list to Santa happen. So there’s that.

I think it would be awesome to be able to smell a snow covered mountain right about now!

Changing my comment. Read the article and it does sound pretty cool. I would love to capture a scent of a flower that I love.

Mmmm…not sure about this. Would I be able to cut it off? Say I see a cute family of baby skunks. Only wanna see 'em and not smell 'em.

Gaha that camera is the weirdest! I probably wanted that as a kid too. So pumped for Christmas. I go home in 5 days… yahoooooooo!
