Sometimes you can’t have everything you want in life. Sometimes you just don’t make enough money, or have enough time. Sometimes you bust your ass in an office all day and then you go work at a gelato shop all night so that in 5 months you can move to paradise and become a scuba instructor.
I am in a pickle – I started my part-time job at the gelato shop last night and it was actually a lot of fun. I enjoyed it! But the owner told me he is thinking of offering a bonus to staff that stay through to the middle of September… he doesn’t want people taking off and leaving him high and dry in the summer (obviously the busiest season). This puts a big crimp in my “going to Roatan at the beginning of August” plan. September 15 is pretty late, and that would mean doing my divemaster internship during the worst months weather-wise, tourism-wise, and underwater-wise in Roatan (Oct/Nov/Dec). I am really conflicted about this. I will have to find out how much the bonus is – it could allow me to kick back in Roatan for a couple months before even starting my dive courses… otherwise I may just have to be an asshole and leave early. Hmmmmmmmm. What to do?
